Hi! My name is Khalil and I am a Data Science and Machine Learning Engineering
Technical Lead. I am passionate about machine learning, data visualization,
programming, video games, anime, watchmaking, coffee brewing, and many other
things!
As I am advancing in my career, I keep growing increasingly frustrated by how
data science is put into practice in enterprises: often carried with little to
no regard to the scientific rigor it requires; producing untested,
irreproducible, and unreliable results and models that almost never make it to
production;
dubious startups and questionable “influencers” feeding unreasonable
expectations around artificial intelligence, and the list goes one.
This is one of the reasons that led me to recreate my personal website under
its current name (in reference to
code smells). Here, you
can find details about my different activities as well as (opinionated) blog
posts about shady data science practices and “horror stories” that I came
across while working in the field. Opinions and views expressed here are my
